ARTICLE I                       Name of the Corporation

The name of the corporation shall be the Greater Houston Athletic Association for the Physically Disabled hereafter referred to as the GHAAPD.

  ARTICLE II                         Purpose and goals

Section 1             The broad purpose of the GHAAPD is to foster the growth and independence of persons with a physical disability medically defined with mobility impairment.

Section 2       The goals will be as follows:

a) To promote and support the development and perpetuation of programs, teams and community-based athletic a recreational after school programs.

b) To conduct or support annual local, regional or national competition and tournaments in various sports and venues.

c) To conduct or support educational programs to instruct and inform the com­munity on the various opportunities and benefits of athletics for the physically disabled.

  ARTICLE IV                        Membership

Section 1             An active member is entitled to all of the benefits and programs offered by the GHAAPD.

a) A member is considered active if he/she:

1. Has paid the annual dues required by the Board of Directors.

2. Is at least 6 years of age and been involved in GHAAPD programs within

     the last 18 months.

3. Is able to support and understand the purpose and goals of the GHAAPD.

Section 2       Types of Membership

a) The Following are types of active members:

1. Partisan Member is any individual or family member of any individual who

    is eligible to participate in the programs of the GHAAPD.

2. Associate Member is any individual or agency who supports either directly  

    or indirectly the purpose and goals of the GHAAPD.
